For a number of years, owner and designer Shawn Nocher had been creating beautiful floral arrangements for friends and private clients out of her home—specifically, her kitchen. Word of her talent and artistry spread quickly (after all, it is Baltimore), and her client list began to grow to the point that her kitchen was constantly overrun with floral arrangements. Eventually her family requested the return of their kitchen and it was time to strike out on her own.
The Floral Studio’s first location on Falls Road eventually proved to be too small for the amount of work that she was handling and within a year she had moved across the street to 6510 Falls Road in the historic Coppermine Terrace Cottage. The charming location could not be better suited to the kind of work The Floral Studio produces. It boasts a beautiful retail area, a bright and sunny workspace and a comfortable loft for consultations. It’s also a great home for Jack—the studio’s free-roaming house rabbit.
During the first year of operation Shawn was lucky enough to meet and work with some of the event industry’s most talented individuals and companies. Friendships were quickly made and eventually two of those talents, Chelle Paperie also opened offices in The Coppermine Terrace Cottage. While both companies remain independent of one another, they share a charming consultation space to meet with clients, brides and customers planning parties or events. This unique arrangement allows all of us to benefit from one another’s expertise and occasionally collaborate on projects.
While customers can always place orders over the phone or internet, we remain a custom studio and we believe our best work is the result of a collaboration between the studio and the client. Stop in to discuss your needs, visit our retail location and be sure to pop into our workspace where the magic happens—oh, and don’t forget to say hi to Bob and Jack!
